By the help of the Holy Spirit last week we were able to establish that we are gods therefore we function like God. One of the functionalities related to God is the act of speaking, which led to a final conclusion of our words being powerful. This week I will like to talk about a phenomenon, which is well established (Jesus Christ the Word of God) but will throw further light to enhance our understanding on this particular topic and even the previous one.

I hope by the end of this weeks message you will be able to answer questions on why Jesus is the Son of God in relation to Him being the word of God. One might ask why is the answer to this question important at all; I already know Jesus is the Son of God that is good enough. The simplest answer I can give to that is the knowledge of something has never been enough but the understanding of a thing will always be like a shining light to any obstacle you might encounter, I will also add that knowledge is only a first step in understanding the practical wisdom of the bible (word of God) (Proverbs 4:7). I will also like to point our attention to, Matthew 7:24-27 which says;

“24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall.”

In the first verse (24), a hearer of the word of God has Knowledge of what the word says but it is only a strong understanding of the word of God that takes you into the realms of practicing the word of God, and by practicing you become an expert in the wisdom of the word. In this parable Jesus paints two scenarios here, a house built on a rock and one built on sand, the one built on a rock is simply understanding and the one built on sand is knowledge. Satan can snatch knowledge but no stunt or trick of Satan can destroy the word of God in your spirit when you understand it. You see the word of God does work and when we practice the word of God then we always get good results (Everything works well) that is the realm everyone should seek to aspire. Knowledge most of the time answers the question what, while understanding answers the questions why and how. If I know what a computer is I might not necessarily know how to make one but if I understand what computer is I will be able to put one together.

I have given a preamble of why we should search for the deeper wisdom of the scriptures by seeking understanding. Hopefully, I have been able to spur our spirits to want to understand the relationship between Jesus the Son of God and the word of God. John 1:1-5 says;

 “1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.In him was life; and the life was the light of men.And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

In John 1:14 it goes on to say that the word became flesh (body). In the bible Jesus is always referred to as the Son of God and other times the Son of man and now we see him in a different light in the John 1 as the word of God. We have to ask the question what is the correlation between the Son of God and the word of God. The answer lies in the anchor scripture (John 1:1-5). With the help of the Holy Spirit we can see that the Word was there in creation, all things were made by Him, nothing was made without Him and He carries life.

During creation the word was present. How? And God said (Genesis 1:3,6,9,11,14 and so on). It is clear to see that Jesus who is the Word of God in flesh (John 1:14) was there during creation because God spoke. There was not anything in creation as far as Genesis is concerned that does not involve God speaking. It is now clear to see that the Word of God in John 1:1-5 is nothing more complicated than just God speaking and Jesus is the Word of God in flesh (John 1:14) but how is He the Word of God and the same time the Son of God?

Last weeks Blog made us understand that we are gods (John 10:34), we carry God’s spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16), we are his representatives on earth (Genesis 1:26), we are his adopted children (Ephesians1:5), He is called the King of Kings (He is the King of other Kings (us)). As believers we have to believe we are all of these things. Do not be ignorant of who you are in the Kingdom of God. if you do not know who you are, you can never understand the role you are to play and the benefits you have in the Kingdom of God will not be claimed. I imagine a scenario where there are packages to be claimed but all you need is to say your name (the name God called you i.e the sender had on the package) at the door post and you can have your package but you don’t even know the name the sender put on the package, all you can say is I know I am expecting a package from someone. The truth is the fact that you even know the person’s name and address cannot guarantee you access to the package until you have an Identification that matches that of the sender the package cannot be claimed. If God has called you a name believe it, run with and use it. If God is your heavenly Father then who are you? Are you not his son and if he is God are you not a god, if he is King, what does that make you, a Prince but he even said no! rule with me as a King like me so He called himself King of Kings.I have never seen a dog give birth to a monkey. if we are children of God and you act like your father then why should you doubt that you are not like your father. Christians, accept the names God have called you.

Last week also, we established that if we are made in the image and likeness of God and animals and plants weren’t then we have to look into the difference between man and God to establish what could the image and likeness of God entail. The ability to speak was the only difference we came up with. So there must be something in the word that link us to God.

Proverbs 18:21 Says that the word has both life and death. Proverbs 4:23 tells us where the word originates from and it says “guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.” The heart (mind/Soul) is the centre of life, everything we do comes out from the heart, one of such things that comes out of the heart is words as established in Luke 6:45 (Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh). The correlation here is life is in words and words in the heart. Words are useless in the heart until they are delivered. I look at the heart the way I see a pregnant woman, there is a baby inside of her but will only be seen physically until that baby is delivered and becomes life. Therefore, words only become life when they are delivered from the womb of the spirit. Remember when we say we function like God we said it is in the fact that we can speak, the fact that we can deliver from the womb of our spirit (words which can bring life makes us like God), remember also we were made out of God’s spirit. Therefore, during creation we can see how words were delivered by God by saying let there be light, let us make man in our image and so on. Jesus is therefore, the word and at the same time the Son of God simply because He was delivered out of the spirit of God as words. The same thing happens to us when we speak we deliver speech (words) from our heart which can either bring life or death as established in proverbs 18:21,this makes us gods. Words are not words until they are physically spoken.

It makes sense that Jesus (Word in flesh) is the Word of God because in him was life and the life was the light of all men. Our closest connection to God is by our words, Jesus (Word in flesh ) had to be the one to save us because we are connected to God by words (Romans 10:9) says;” if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” as we can see salvation requires the heart and the mouth, they are that important. We have to learn that to claim the names God has given you, you have to watch your mouth. A wise man is one who knows when to speak because he knows that life lies in the tongue. A wise man will also study the bible as it is the word of God in letters. Shalom!!!

 kardíaheart; “the affective center of our being” and the capacity of moral preference (volitional desire, choice; see P. Hughs, 2 Cor, 354); “desire-producer that makes us tick” (G. Archer), i.e our “desire-decisions” that establish who we really are.

[Heart (2588 /kardía) is mentioned over 800 times in Scripture, but never referring to the literal physical pump that drives the blood. That is, “heart” is only used figuratively (both in the OT and NT.] (,
